It is a common misconception that if a member of staff has a lot of time off sick there is nothing that the employer can do about it. There is in fact a lot that the employer can do, and if some of the guidance in this blog is followed, then it will hopefully not be such a big problem.

There are generally three types of employee absence – 1. persistent short term absence (someone having lots of separate days off), 2. long term sickness and 3. employees that ‘pull a sickie’.
